BUILDING POLICIES

Due to increased security screening, including metal detection of entrants, XL Center management strongly requests that all guests arrive 45-60 minutes prior to all scheduled event times to avoid and/or minimize waiting lines.

Guests are also reminded that bags, backpacks, luggage, laptops, tablets/iPads, coolers, parcels, briefcases, and like articles will be strictly prohibited from the facility. All guests will be subject to search, at XL Center’s discretion, of their person and/or possessions (including women’s handbags of normal size that may be allowed entry after such search).

Patrons with prohibited articles will be turned away at the entrances and no storage or check area will be provided for such items. Enforcement will be without exceptions.

Prohibited Items

ALL ITEMS brought into the arena are subject to inspection. For safety reasons, the following list of items are not permitted in the arena and may be confiscated. Items that are confiscated will not be returned.

  • Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to: (guns, knives/pocket knives, multi-tools, chains, spikes, projectiles, tasers, mace/pepper spray)
  • Pets (other than service animals)
  • Bags, backpacks, or briefcases
  • Outside Food and/or beverages - see note below about Food & Beverage
  • Balloons
  • Alcoholic beverages, drugs, or other illegal substances
  • Laptop computers and/or tablets/iPad
  • Professional cameras, cameras with detachable lenses, audio/video equipment of any kind
  • Skateboards, Heelys, hoverboards, rollerblades, scooters, or bicycles
  • Drones
  • Sticks or poles of any size
  • Selfie Sticks, monopods, and/or tripods
  • Umbrellas of any kind including golf umbrellas
  • Laser pointers or similar items
  • Artificial noisemakers of any kind, including but not limited to: (drums, air horns, whistles)
  • Glow sticks or any kind of glow jewelry
  • Devices that light up or emit noise
  • Large banners or any sign attached to a stick or pole
  • Inappropriate attire or signage including full facial coverings such as masks
  • Any item deemed to be potentially dangerous or distracting by arena management, team, or show production.

*The XL Center reserves the right to prohibit any item including items not listed above, from entering the premises based on any particular show request or requirement.

 

Re-Entry Policy

Once Guests enter the XL Center Veterans Memorial Coliseum for an event they are not allowed to leave and then return for that same event.

 

Smoking Policy

Guests are not allowed to smoke in the XL Center – Veterans Memorial Coliseum or Exhibition Center. 

 

Cameras & Video Equipment Policy

Single-frame photography is allowed. Cameras with detachable lenses are not allowed. Video cameras and hand-held video equipment are prohibited. Neither lighting nor camera support pods are permitted to be used by guests at the XL Center. Camera equipment may not obstruct the view or path of travel of others. Fans are not allowed to reproduce or re-broadcast any film of events, concerts, or UConn games for commercial purposes without the expressed written consent of the XL Center, University of Connecticut, and/or the NCAA. No flash.

All forms of video and motion-picture cameras are strictly prohibited.

Promoters of events at the XL Center may ban the use of all cameras for specific shows. Check event listings for details.

 

First Aid

A first aid station is located on the coliseum concourse behind Section 113.

 

Food & Beverage

The XL Center, through its authorized representative, has exclusivity over all food and beverages consumed throughout the XL Center. No outside food or beverages are permitted into the XL Center.

If you or someone in your party has a medical condition or specific needs that require you to bring in outside food or beverage, please contact our Guest Services and Security Manager via email at Michael.Ambruso@oakviewgroup.com in advance of your event.

 

Programs, Novelties, etc.

All programs, novelties, T-shirts, souvenirs, etc. must be sold by the XL Center or its authorized representatives. All such merchandise must be consigned over to the XL Center or its authorized representative before the event.

 

Ticket Policy & Age Requirements

All individuals two years old or older must possess a valid ticket for entry into the XL Center. Children under two years old are admitted free of charge for most events, as long as they sit on a lap. Please note specific events require children one year old or older to possess a ticket which will be noted on the show’s event calendar listing.

 

Guests with Sensory Needs

The XL Center has partnered with KultureCity to improve our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our objective is to provide an inclusive and seamless experience for all guests for all events including those with sensory needs. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing disorders by supplying our team members with continuous training and by offering resources and accommodations below to our guests

  • Sensory Bags - Sensory bags including special KCVIP badges, fidget tools, noise-canceling headphones, and other resources are available to borrow at our Guest Services booth located at Section 124. 
  • Weighted Lap Pads - Weighted lap pads are also available to borrow at our Guest Services booth located at Section 124.

How may I purchase tickets for XL Center events?

Please note the Ticket Office at the XL Center does not sell tickets on the first day that tickets are on sale for certain events. Please check the event calendar listing for details on a particular event.

The Ticket Office at the XL Center is located in the XL Center Atrium outside the main entrance to the arena on Trumbull Street. There are no refunds or exchanges on tickets. For ticket info, please contact the Ticket Office at (860) 727-8010. To purchase tickets, click here

What items can I bring into the arena with me?

All guests will be subject to search of their person and/or possessions (including women's handbags of normal size which may be allowed entry after such search). Guests attending XL Center events are advised that bags, backpacks, luggage, coolers, parcels, briefcases, and like articles will be strictly prohibited from the facility. Guests with prohibited articles will be turned away at the entrances to return items to their vehicle or dispose of the items. No storage or "check-in-area" will be provided.

Can I use cash inside the arena?

Our arena has transitioned to a cashless arena. Only Credit or Debit Cards can be used within the arena. The Ticket Office will accept cash.

Where can I park for XL Center events?

There are several indoor and outdoor parking locations throughout the downtown area, all within walking distance to the arena. Please visit our Directions page for a detailed map of the various parking facilities. For additional information, including pricing, please visit Hartfordparking.com

Does the XL Center have a Lost & Found?

If you lose an item while the event is still taking place, please report the incident to our Guest Services Booth located behind section 124. Otherwise, please contact the Security Department at (860) 241-4280 if items were lost.

Can I refund or exchange tickets?

The XL Center has a no refund, no exchange policy on tickets for all events.

My ticket is marked General Admission. Where do I sit?

General Admission ticketing means that you do not possess a reserved seat. Seating (or Arena Floor space) is obtained on a first-come, first-serve basis. We ask that you do not reserve General Admission seats for guests that are meeting you inside the Arena.

Does XL Center provide accommodations for the disabled?

Tickets for guests with disabilities, subject to availability, may be purchased over the phone by calling (860) 727-8010, any weekday during normal business hours, or at the Ticket Office at the XL Center.

I have lost my tickets for an event. What happens now?

If you have lost your tickets or if they have been stolen before your event takes place, please return to your point of purchase for further assistance. If purchased through the XL Center, please contact the ticket office at (860) 727-8010.

At what age does a child require a ticket?

How early can we enter the XL Center prior to an event?

Arena doors for all XL Center events open one (1) hour prior to event start time, unless otherwise noted on the show’s event calendar listing.

What are the Ticket Office hours?

Regular Hours: 12 noon-4:00 pm M-F

The Ticket Office will remain open evenings when an event is scheduled until 1 hour after the beginning of the event. The Ticket Office will open 4 hours prior to the event start time for weekend events. Weekends vary depending on the event schedule.

Can I bring a sign into the arena with me?

Even though guests are welcome to bring signs into the building with them to show their support for their favorite team, player, or entertainer, not all performers or teams permit signs in our building. Signs may not be derogatory in any manner and must not contain foul language. Signs must be handheld and cannot be mounted on a stick or pole and they cannot block the view of other guests. Any interference with the enjoyment of another guest's experience will result in the confiscation of the sign and/or possible ejection from the facility.

Is there a Coat Check?

The XL Center does not provide an area to check coats.

Can I bring my child’s stroller to the XL Center?

If necessary, guests may bring strollers to events in the arena and exhibition center. Please note strollers must be checked at Guest Services before proceeding to your seats. You may not leave strollers in the walkways, gates, or on the concourse. XL Center is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged strollers. Guest Services is located at the Main Entrance, near section 124.

Can we bring food and beverages with us into the XL Center?

The XL Center, through its authorized representative, has exclusivity overall food and beverages consumed throughout the XL Center. No outside food & beverage is permitted into the XL Center.

Is smoking permitted?

Yes, diaper and medical bags are allowed. They will be searched upon entry.
